About the Program

 

1)      Newspaper scanning: Firstly 9 National Daily Newspapers (Daily Prothom Alo, Daily Star, New Age, Daily Samakal, Daily Jugantar, Amar Desh, Bhorer Kagoj, Ittefaq  and Kaler Kantha ) are scanned to select the Human Rights Violation related news. The newspapers are carefully read and the relevant news is highlighted.

2)      Cutting, pasting and filing: The scanned news is then cut along with the newspaper name and date and compiled separately. Next they are filed. Separate files are maintained for each month.

3)      Data Entry: After filing the news, data entry is used to count the incidents and victim’s name, district and number (separately male, female and child), the type of incidents and the identity of the abusers.

4)      Data analysis: After the data entry, the data is analyzed to identify the violation type, mostly affected areas, the ratio of male, female and child victims, comparative study of various months, the mostly occurred violence etc.

5)      Monthly Report writing: After completing the above mentioned procedures, a monthly report is prepared regarding Human Rights related news in each month. The report contains women and child rights related issues (eve teasing, rape, dowry, acid attack) murder for social clash and other issues, attack on journalists and minorities, missing  persons reports and abduction, death in safe custody, remand and cross fire.

6)      Filing and Publishing report: After preparing the monthly reports, they are published on the project website .
