About the Program

Relief International will once again implement an activity which will revolutionize the way reporting is carried out in rural areas. The National Network of Concerned Journalists associated with the “ Transparency for Human Rights in Bangladesh” program  have initiated a” Complain Box”  at the  Upazilla Parishad in Khulna, Satkhira, Jessore & Bagerhat districts . The UP Chairman has also approved of this idea, so that community members can use this box to submit their reports on incidences of human rights violations. The members of the NNCJ will check the reports and publish them in their respective journals.

The NNCJ members have already taken significant steps to curb incidences of human rights violations, and RI believes this “Complain Box” will further help them promote awareness about human rights. The NNCJ members in the Jessore cluster have already helped to protect the child of a woman who has been sentenced to die. The child was also kept in the condemned cell along with the mother, and NNCJ members have identified the legal guardian of the child and taken various  initiatives to ensure protection of the child after the death of  its mother.

RI lauds the efforts  of the NNCJ members and believes that the new “Complain Box’ will help bring about justice for many more community members.
